Stuart Pearce Alan Irvine + Stuart Pearce confirmed as assistants
Apparently on TS today saying rumour has it Moyes has chosen Pearce as his No.2. Pearce confirms nothing official but says "If West Ham approached me I would love to go and talk to them". Basically, please give me a job.

Not sure how I feel about this. Is it just another ploy by owners to soften the Moyes appointment?

David Moyes has confirmed the appointment of Alan Irvine and Stuart Pearce as his assistants at West Ham United.

The manager also hopes to confirm the appointment of Billy McKinlay – currently in a caretaker role at Sunderland – as a third assistant in the coming days.

Would take Pearce as number 2 .

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
He might put a few of them up against a wall, mind you I thought Dicksy would have done that!!! One difference between Pearce and Dicksy is that Pearce put an incredible amount of effort in on the training pitch whereas Dicksy would jump on a milk float with McAvennie for a lift back from a cross country run!!!!!

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
This news was out yesterday, Pearce played 78 games for England, coached the u21 for ages. Do people think he is alot better than Julian and co?

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
I like Pearce and he talks a lot of sense on TalkSport but it is so obviously a case of appointing someone with a a West Ham connection as a sop to the supporters that I hope he turns it down.

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Stuart Pearce is fucking clueless.

People need to get over this myth that the likes of Dicks/ Pearce etc. will scare the players into performing. You are dealing with a different breed of player from when they played.

Listen to him on talksport. His material lacks insight and is clichéd. Great players don't always make great coaches/managers

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Think he is awful on TS, chats utter shit constantly and failed at Forest

Would rather a proven assistant manager come in

Thought Irvine would be no2 and Pearce first team coach anyway?

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Moyes normally has Steve Round as his number 2 so that could be an option, currently he is football director at Aston Villa.

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Memory's a bit hazy but didn't he set the record at Man City for longest run of games without a goal and scored the lowest total in the league.

Also, did a terrible job of u21s at major tournaments picking too few forwards and going into the final with none available

Doesn't exactly inspire me

I think he'll do an excellent job succeeding Julian in the role of "Ex WHU left back turned cone putter outer."

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
just heard him on TS and he did say that one of his backroom team will have knowledge of the club and he didn't mean Chris Woods. also said he hadn't spoke to Pearce, yet

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Rio actually does know his stuff defensively, but he has some negative history with Moyes, so I would guess that's a non starter.

We MUST sort the defensive situation, we will never score enough to outrun our current failings at the back.

Re: Stuart Pearce - No. 2
Rio may well have been a great defender, but does that make him a good coach?

Put it this way, he is so confident in his own coaching abilities that he is training to become a pro boxer, at 39......

Trev

I hear you mate. All we can say is, if we get the four of them as announced, we have THREE ex Prem managers at once, all of whom are known for being fairly 'robust' in their approach, and if that all together isn't sufficient, we'd then have to consider ourselves pretty much 'unmanageable', I'd say...
